We’re celebrating a fantastic Imagination in Action event last week at the MIT Media Lab. Link was a sponsor along with MIT Connection Science and Forbes. It was a high-energy day full of fascinating speakers and valuable networking. With 60+ sessions and 150+ speakers, the event was an opportunity for attendees to take a deep dive into all things web3, from driving adoption through vertical markets to privacy and security concerns to nurturing community.

The day was organized into three moments to reflect on the major social and economic transformation precipitated by web3:

  • Intersection of IRL and Internet — How will life in the metaverse evolve, and how should and could governance accompany that change? How will ownership, community, government, and trust change? How will institutions embrace web3 to shape this evolution?
  • web3 Foundations — What drives the web3 economy and attracts investment? What are the metrics to assess new opportunities, what do we learn from project failures, what is the tipping point for the public to embrace web3 economics?
  • web3 Pioneers — What building blocks make web3 innovations possible and who is pioneering the field? What infrastructure catalyzes web3’s deployment and upon what insights have the new pioneers staked their startups?

The event was driven by Link Managing Director John Werner, who founded Imagination in Action. Link Co-Founder Dave Blundin was also involved; he moderated a panel about what VCs look for in web3 projects. We’re grateful for the huge turnout, and the day’s learnings and opportunities.

Panels of web3 developers, creators, investors and academics discussed the future of web3 technology
